특히 중요한 영어점수에서 IELTS 7.0-8.0 이상은 있어야 한다는데 8.0이라는 점수를 듣기만 해도 막막하고, 공부를 하면서도 자신이 없는 분들 또는 몇 번 씩 재시험을 쳐도 점수가 안 나오는 분들이 계실거에요. 그런 분들에게 대안으로 PTE 라는 시험이 대두되고 있지만 아직 한국인들에게는 PTE라는 시험이 조금 생소합니다. 그래서 오늘은 아이엘츠와 비교 시, PTE에 어떤 장점이 있는지, 공부를 한다면 어디에서 공부하면 좋을지에 대해서 알아보는 시간을 갖도록 할게요.

​PTE란?

Pearson Test of English 피어슨 테스트의 약자인 PTE는 호주 및 뉴질랜드에서 비자, 이민신청 시 인정되는 공인영어시험입니다. 이 두 국가를 포함 미국, 캐나다, 영국, 독일 등 여러 국가에서 학교 입학시 요구하는 공인영어 시험에 포함되기도 하구요.

PTE 시험구성

·형식 : Speaking&Wrting, Reading, Listening
·소요시간 : 3시간(10분 휴식 가능)
·채점 : 100% 컴퓨터 채점

PTE 시험의 장점

​PTE는 100% 컴퓨터를 베이스로 하기 때문에 어디서든 시험에 응시하기가 쉽고 채점도 빠르고 정확한 편입니다. 기준이 명확하기 때문에 피드백도 받아 볼 수 있는거겠죠. 자신의 약점을 파악하고 공략이 가능하며 템플릿을 이용하는 것도 가능하기 때문에 방향성만 제대로 잡을 수 있다면, 아이엘츠 8.0과 같은 수준의 PTE 점수(80점 대)를 좀 더 빠르게 달성할 수 있습니다.

또한,  PTE의 경우 공식 모의고사가 제공되는데, 약 $50 정도에 응시가 가능합니다. 아이엘츠나 토플의 경우 약 20-30만원 정도의 비용을 지불해야 할 뿐만 아니라 모의고사가 제공되지 않기 때문에 PTE가 그러한 면에서는 경제적이라고 볼 수 있겠습니다.
